Job summary

BlackSky in Seattle seeks a Senior Engineer for the Constellation Systems team to develop, update, and expand orbit design processes, support design trades, and apply modeling tools to report constellation performance under diverse scenarios.

You’ll contribute to mission planning, engage with customer programs, and work across time zones using Python and C++. This full‑time, on-site role emphasizes hands-on analysis and tool development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering related disciplines (e.g., aerospace, mechanical, software) or physics.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience.
• Familiarity with spacecraft systems, constellations, or modeling and simulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple efforts.
• Proficiency in Python and C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and expand processes and tools for constellation orbit design including launch planning and revisit specifications.
• Support constellation design trades and decision milestones.
• Provide subject matter expertise in Orbital Mechanics.
• Develop analysis scenarios and operations impacts to meet requirements.
• Use and improve modeling tools to report performance metrics for internal studies and proposals.
• Support documentation and presentation of analysis results.
