Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced Consultant, Accounting to join our Finance team. You will coordinate consolidation activities, advise on complex transactions and ensure GAAP/STAT reporting across 150+ entities, while guiding associates and coordinating with auditors and regulators.

The role requires deep accounting knowledge, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to influence across functions.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of related accounting experience; insurance experience preferred.
• Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance or business administration; accounting major and degree preferred.
• Progress towards CPA preferred.
• GAAP and/or STAT knowledge and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the research, analysis and implementation of new and/or revised accounting policies and procedures.
• Advises senior management on acquiring data, records, analyzing and preparing complex accounting transactions and statements.
• Responsible for development and submission of complex accounting and financial transactions required to ensure accurate reporting at all levels.
• Advises management of the accuracy of all reports, forms and data provided to internal and external clients/customers.
• Coordinates development of actions/policies to deal with unfavorable financial situations as disclosed by accounting analysis.
