Job summary

American Rivers invites an Associate Director of Conservation Operations to drive operational excellence for our nationwide conservation programs. You will partner with team leaders to implement upgraded systems, manage grants and budgets, and ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.

The role integrates Conservation teams with the Business Strategy and Operations Division, focusing on contracting, risk management, and cross-divisional collaboration to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience: 7+ years managing budgets, grants, and/or contracts with complex compliance in nonprofit setting.
• Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and core enterprise software tools (accounting/budgeting, project management, CRM).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Finance and Grants Management to ensure compliance with enterprise processes and systems.
• Track and report budgets at project and grants levels; support time and expense reporting.
• Ensure grants are spent down per donor restrictions and on time; allocate staff time across funding sources.
• Support grant proposal budgets with project managers and Advancement team.
