Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) seeks a Principal Engineer – Connector Reliability to act as the senior reliability authority across the Power BU. This expert role translates DFMEA outputs into rigorous reliability tests and ensures safe, durable connector products before market release.

You will develop MTBF predictions, design ALT/HALT programs, and guide product teams on material and geometry choices to improve wear life and mating cycle durability. Travel up to 25% may be involved.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in mechanical/electrical/materials science or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience translating DFMEA risk into validated reliability tests.
  • Proven ability to lead ALT/HALT programs and reliability demonstrations.

Responsibilities

  • Define reliability test plans grounded in physics-of-failure principles.
  • Develop MTBF predictions using MIL-HDBK-217F, Telcordia SR-332, IEC TR 62380.
  • Provide expert commentary on designs from a reliability perspective.
  • Support certification and compliance activities across programs.
  • Lead failure analysis investigations and CAPA with cross-functional teams.
