Job summary

Hecker Fink LLP is seeking a Conflicts and Risk Attorney to support the General Counsel's Office and Conflicts and Matter Intake Department. The role involves managing risk exposure, advising on conflicts, compliance, and related firm policies, and reporting to the Deputy General Counsel.

The successful candidate will contribute to process improvements, supervise intake operations, and collaborate across partners and staff. Hybrid work in New York or Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

• Hold a law degree and be admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Have at least 4 years of experience as a qualified lawyer, preferably in a leading law firm.
• Experience in compliance, conflicts, risk management, or professional responsibility is preferred.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and communications skills; high level IT proficiency including Office and research tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise conflicts and new matter intake processes and personnel; resolve conflicts and oversee client KYC.
• Research questions on applicable law, regulations, and firm policies for conflicts and compliance.
• Review client engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, vendor contracts; draft conflict waivers.
• Assist onboarding, client transfers, and matter openings for lateral partners.
