Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC invites a Senior Configuration Engineer to join our remote team supporting VA applications and cloud migration. You will lead software configuration management, release engineering, and build automation across internal software and COTS products.

Required are deep CM expertise, experience in regulated environments, and proficiency with Git, CI/CD tools, and IaC (Ansible/Terraform). This full-time role demands clear communication and mentoring across projects.

Qualifications

Experience leading complex software builds and releases across multiple environments.
Experience in federal/regulatory environments or large enterprises.
Deep CM and release engineering expertise.
Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
Experience with source control systems (Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps) and branching/merging strategies.
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions) and artifact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory).
Experience with scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
Experience managing COTS software, vendor patches, and version control.
Experience with Infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform).
Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and training developers on CM tools.

Responsibilities

Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software (internal and COTS).
Perform CM and release engineering tasks ensuring builds meet standard configurations.
Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development.
Design and implement build procedures to support development and use.
Develop software CM standards for company-wide use.
Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
