Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst for a remote role supporting VA applications and cloud migration. The incumbent will lead software configuration management and release engineering activities across multiple environments.

The ideal candidate has deep CM expertise, strong DevOps knowledge, and experience in regulated/federal settings, with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure repeatable build and deployment processes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex software builds/releases across multiple environments.
• Experience in large, regulated or federal enterprises.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Familiarity with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Proficiency with source control: Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps repos, Subversion.
• Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions; artifact repos like Nexus/Artifactory.
• Scripting for automation: Bash, PowerShell, Python.
• Experience managing COTS software, vendor patches, version control.
• Infrastructure as code and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and training developers on CM tools.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and spearhead migration to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both in-house and COTS software.
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks to document and standardize software parameters.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database, or scripting languages.
• Design and implement build procedures to support software development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards; provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders; mentor junior analysts/engineers.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
