Job summary
Turpin Construction seeks an experienced Construction Estimator to develop accurate bids for public and private projects in Southern California. You will work with operations, project management, and ownership to ensure scopes are captured and bids are profitable.
The role requires expertise in concrete, masonry, structural steel, and grading, with strong plan-reading and risk identification capabilities. Collaboration with field teams and ownership is essential.
Qualifications
- 5+ years estimating in heavy civil and/or commercial construction.
- Experience estimating concrete, CMU, structural steel, and grading.
- Strong plan/spec reading and geotechnical report interpretation.
- Understanding of prevailing wage/public works is a plus.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and bid preparation processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complete bid proposals and cost summaries.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for structural and site works.
- Develop labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify risks, scope gaps, and alternatives during bids.
- Coordinate with project teams during pre-construction and handoffs.
