Job summary

4A Consulting, LLC, headquartered in Baltimore, MD, seeks an experienced Senior Computer Specialist to evaluate, manage, and optimize computer hardware, software, and development tools in support of contracts with Federal Government and Fortune 500 clients.

The role requires expertise in system analysis, programming, and equipment analysis, with hands-on experience in enterprise computing environments. Onsite work in Pikesville, MD is expected, with possible telework. Interview may be in-person.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field, or 3 years of equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of computer experience in system analysis, system programming, application programming, and/or equipment analysis.
• 5+ years as computer hardware or systems software specialist or as a systems analyst.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate computer hardware, systems software, OS, and software development tools for requirements.
• Analyze costs and requirements to convert systems using compilers, simulators, emulators, and translators.
• Recommend OS/configuration improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
• Develop, manage, maintain, and evaluate current hardware, software, and tools.
• Assess compatibility and interoperability with existing systems.
• Identify bottlenecks, analyze performance, and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate system architecture and hardware configurations for operational needs.
• Recommend improvements to optimize hardware/software utilization and reliability.
• Conduct assessments of emerging technologies and advise on upgrades.
• Support system analysis, programming, and large-scale development activities.
• Collaborate with teams, admins, developers, vendors, and end users.
• Assess impact of changes on existing applications.
• Prepare documentation and performance reports.
• Support deployment and maintenance of public-safety tech solutions (CAD, RMS, mobile).
• Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot integration issues.
