Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Staff Computational Materials Scientist to advance materials research for fusion devices in Devens, MA. You will model materials under extreme conditions, develop physics-based simulation tools, and drive data-driven design for tokamaks and related systems.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, development of uncertainty-aware materials models, and contribution to experimental planning and material specifications.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in experimental or computational materials science.
• Experience with ICME tools to answer scientific questions across length scales.
• Proficiency in codes for material properties and microstructures.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based models and synthetic data for extreme environments.
• Identify features affecting material performance and quantify their influence.
• Design experiments and simulations to reduce uncertainty in properties.
