Responsibilities

  • Follow formulas to prepare OTC products and record batch details.
  • Log and reconcile batch records accurately.
  • Navigate Oracle inventory system to manage transactions.
  • Determine batch characteristics and ingredient weights per specifications.
  • Pre-weigh ingredients to specification and reconcile usage for each batch.
  • Operate mixing equipment and valves to compound batches.
  • Adjust temperature, time, and speed per the compounding formula.
  • Record quantities of materials used and ensure proper transfer to holding tanks.
  • Maintain safety and GMP compliance throughout the process.

PL Developments, also known as PLD, is a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods

SUMMARY:

The Sr Compounder is responsible for preparing and compounding OTC products according to approved formulas, specifications, and quality standards. This role includes weighing and reconciling ingredients, operating mixing and processing equipment, maintaining accurate batch records, and performing inventory transactions. The position requires monitoring critical process parameters, ensuring proper sanitation of equipment, and supporting product transfers. The Senior Compounder works independently, manages multiple tasks, collaborates effectively with other departments, and follows all safety and GMP requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate required or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Excellent communication, mathematical and writing skills are needed.
  • Must be able to read and follow written directions in English.
  • Forklift certification needed (certification provider by PL Developments).
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends and be flexible with shifts 1/2/3.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to follow formula critical instruction and batch OTC (over the counter) products.
  • Need to be detail oriented enough to log, record and complete batch record keeping documents.
  • Ability to be able to navigate and perform transactions throughout the Oracle inventory system.
  • Ability to understand specifications to determine batch characteristics, type and weight of ingredients to be used.
  • Able to select, pre-weigh ingredients to specification and to reconcile ingredient usage for each batch.
  • Must be able to operate critical equipment, valves, pumps etc. to be able to mix and compound batches to formula.
  • Understanding adjustments to temperature, time, and speed controls required by (CF) compounding formula. To be able to blend ingredients, add additional ingredients during blending cycle as specified on (CF) compounding formula.
  • Must be able to record and document quantity of materials used.
  • Be familiar with the processes of the department, to ensure transfer of product to holding tanks.
  • Must be able to wash and sanitize mixing tanks and other equipment as necessary.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work interdepartmentally in an effective manner to carry out daily duties manner to carry out daily duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pumps, valves, and mixing equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, heat, and noise while wearing required PPE.
