Karman Space & Defense is seeking a senior expert in composite materials and mechanics of materials. You will lead structural analysis efforts and mentor engineering staff on advanced analysis methods, contributing to mission-critical defense programs.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in composites, strong ABAQUS skills, and an advanced degree. The role spans design, analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a high-security environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in composite structural analysis and mechanics of materials.
• Experience in structural analysis, material modeling, and advanced engineering practices.
• Senior technical roles such as Technical Fellow or Senior Structures Analyst.
• Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience with defense organizations or government contractors.
• In-depth understanding of composites, design, manufacturing, and testing.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; excellent communication.
• Proficiency with ABAQUS; programming in Python/Fortran/C++ is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership as SME in composites and structural analysis, including FEA.
• Develop advanced engineering solutions for complex challenges with timely execution.
• Guide creation and refinement of methodologies, technologies, and processes.
• Support CTO with input on performance, training needs, and team organization.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff to foster technical excellence.
• Lead technical reviews and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Oversee major projects to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
• Review critical drawings, specifications, analyses, and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support delivery.
