Job summary

Gusto is seeking a Senior Compensation Manager to lead compensation strategy and execution within the People team. You will own end-to-end cycles, partner with HRBPs, Finance, Legal, and executives, and drive fairness and market competitiveness using data, automation, and AI.

In this role, you will design scalable workflows, build dashboards for leadership, and ensure compliance with pay regulations as Gusto grows across Denver, NYC, and San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Compensation, Total Rewards, or related analytical function
• AI fluency with hands-on tooling
• Experience running compensation cycles (merit, equity, benchmarking)
• Survey benchmarking using Radford/Aon, Mercer, Pave or similar
• Systems-first approach with scalable workflows
• Strong analytical foundation with advanced spreadsheets and dashboards
• Knowledge of pay regulations (FLSA, transparency, equity)
• Ability to translate data to executives and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and communicate compensation programs aligned with strategy
• Lead annual compensation cycles end-to-end
• Perform market analyses and benchmarking to set pay ranges
• Use AI and automation to accelerate analysis while ensuring data quality
• Build scalable compensation workflows and dashboards
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pay laws
• Collaborate with People Ops, Finance, Legal, and leadership
