Job summary

The City of Norfolk seeks a Community Crisis Responder II to provide crisis and stabilization services for adults and children with behavioral health needs. The role involves in-person and phone responses, documentation, and coordination with licensed staff to ensure timely support.

Responsibilities include crisis counseling, pre-admission screening, and assisting with records, reports, and testimony as needed. Shift work and potential vehicle deployment may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a qualified human services field.
• Considerable experience (3+ years) in the behavioral health field.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Certification or certifiable in basic first aid and CPR, depending on area of assignment.
• QMHP-A; QMHP-C; and/or CSAC strongly preferred; clinical licensed or license eligible staff also eligible.

Responsibilities

• Respond in person and/or by phone to requests for assistance with individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Provide crisis and/or community stabilization services in the community and CSB facilities.
• Coordinate services with licensed approving staff as needed.
• Provide crisis counseling to individuals in offices, hospitals, ERs, and in the community.
• Prepare clear written reports and maintain client records and data with confidentiality.
