Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking a senior communications manager to lead internal communications for 33,000+ team members, shaping how we inform, engage and inspire across priorities, purpose and company news. Based at our Marlborough, MA headquarters, the role partners with senior leaders to translate strategy into compelling storytelling.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
• Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex business information into clear, engaging communications.
• Strong presence and demonstrated experience working with and supporting senior leaders.
• Experience developing and executing communications and editorial strategies and managing initiatives from concept through execution.
• Experience supporting executive meetings, town halls or other large-scale team member communications experiences.
• Proactive, resourceful and comfortable navigating ambiguity, changing priorities and a fast-paced environment.
• Strong relationship-building, organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Collaborative team player who can work independently, take ownership of projects and pitch in where business needs are greatest.
• Ability to travel regularly in support of new club openings, company events and in-club storytelling and video initiatives (~30-40% travel anticipated).
• Experience with issues and crisis communications, light design skills (ie: PowerPoint and Canva) and video storytelling, storyboarding or editing a plus.
• Professional writing, storytelling and copyediting samples may be requested

Responsibilities

• Manage the editorial strategy and content calendar, identifying relevant themes and stories and creating a consistent rhythm of engaging content across the organization
• Find and tell compelling stories from across BJ’s clubs, distribution centers and corporate teams, including identifying opportunities for external amplification in partnership with the broader corporate communications team
• Partner with senior leaders and their teams to develop clear, compelling executive messaging, presentations and communications
• Develop communications, content and programming for major company moments, including the annual Operations Leadership Conference, quarterly town halls and executive meetings
• Manage communications initiatives from planning through execution, coordinating messaging, stakeholders, timelines and follow-through
• Build strong relationships across the business to anticipate communications needs, uncover opportunities and ensure our storytelling reflects what is happening across BJ’s
• Travel regularly to BJ’s locations and company events to uncover stories and provide communications support for key business moments

We are looking for a senior communications manager to join the corporate communications team at BJ’s Wholesale Club. This role will help shape how we inform, engage and inspire our 33,000+ team members around BJ’s strategic priorities, purpose and company news.

The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator, exceptional writer and creative storyteller who is comfortable working with senior leaders. This person will help drive our editorial strategy and develop content for major company moments, from leadership conferences and town halls to executive meetings. This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $128,500.00 - $164,000.00
