Job summary

Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to lead external communications, media relations, and cross-program messaging. The role reports to the Chief of Staff and collaborates with senior leadership and program teams to advance BEF's environmental mission.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in communications, experience coordinating across matrixed teams, and strong media relations skills. Hybrid work is available in Portland, OR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years in communications, PR, or media relations.
• Experience coordinating across multiple teams or programs.
• Proven media relations and spokesperson prep experience.
• Experience managing external vendors and budgets.
• Familiarity with media monitoring, CMS, and email marketing tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead external communications and media relations for BEF.
• Coordinate spokespeople for interviews and events.
• Oversee BEF social channels and ensure brand voice alignment.
• Guide cross-program communications strategy and alignment.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
• Develop crisis and reputational risk communications with leadership.
