Job summary

Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) seeks a Senior Communications Manager to lead external communications and media relations, oversee social channels, and manage vendors. You will coordinate cross-program messaging and support a proactive communications strategy aligned with BEF’s mission to accelerate renewable energy and freshwater outcomes.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will collaborate with program teams, senior leadership, and external partners, ensuring consistent brand voice

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
• Experience in nonprofit, environmental, or mission-driven organizations.
• At least 5 years in communications, public relations, or media relations.
• Experience coordinating across multiple teams, departments, or program areas.
• Experience coordinating geographically dispersed or matrixed teams.
• Demonstrated media relations and spokesperson-preparation experience.
• Experience managing external vendors and communications budgets.
• Proficiency with media monitoring tools, CMS, email marketing, and design-collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as central point for external communications requests and media inquiries.
• Develop proactive and reactive media relations to raise BEF visibility.
• Monitor, track, and report media coverage to leadership.
• Prepare spokespeople for interviews and public appearances.
• Manage BEF social media presence and brand voice.
• Support development of reputational risk and crisis communications protocol.
