Job summary

Peraton is seeking a seasoned corporate communications professional to craft press releases, executive-level materials, and educational content. You will translate technical jargon for broad audiences, create marketing collateral, and collaborate with the MarCom team to ensure consistent messaging across channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or related field OR a high school diploma and eight years of publishing experience.
• At least 8 years of corporate communications experience
• 12+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Exceptional writing ability; prepared to share clips or a portfolio
• Proofreading/editing expertise and understanding of nuanced messaging
• Ability to accept constructive criticism
• Desire to learn and adhere to Peraton’s style and brand
• Flexibility to learn new software, pivot when needs change, and contribute to team efforts
• Ability to work independently
• Strong organizational skills
• Deadline oriented
• Must be a US Citizen
• Government contracting experience (nice to have)
• Master’s degree in English, communications, or related field (nice to have)
• Experience with graphic design/layout (nice to have)
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and other graphics tools (nice to have)
• Familiarity with SharePoint and other intranet tools (nice to have)
• Experience with social posting platforms (nice to have)

Responsibilities

• Write press releases, social media posts, and website content
• Draft executive-level and technical feature and informational pieces
• Create short- and long-form educational stories across multiple media channels based on interviews with subject matter experts
• Attend meetings and events to promote Peraton to potential customers and partners
• Edit copy according to AP and Peraton style
• Research and develop content across multiple company areas
• Translate technical jargon into digestible language for internal and external audiences
• Create collateral ranging from white papers to marketing materials
• Use Microsoft, Canva, and Adobe applications
• Work with the MarCom team to align internal and external messaging
• Manage portions of projects and complete projects using project management software
• Assess project progress, work across teams, and meet deadlines
• Collaborate on events, employee engagement, marketing materials, and graphic design initiatives
• Identify flaws, recommend improved processes and solutions, and continually grow
• Report to and work from the Reston Town Center office
