Job summary

Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice seeks a full-time Senior Communications Officer in the Washington, DC area with a hybrid work model. You will develop strategic communication plans, manage content across press releases, newsletters, social media, and the website, and lead media relations and events.

The role requires strong writing, editing, and leadership abilities, plus experience in media outreach and brand storytelling.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in communications or related field, or equivalent 3 years of professional experience.
• Passion for Equimundo’s mission; affinity for gender equality and social justice.
• Ability to capture Equimundo’s institutional voice and create communications assets.
• Foster a collaborative environment across the organization.
• Advise leadership on communication trends, issues, and strategies.
• Oversee development and maintenance of Equimundo’s brand identity and messaging.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Experience in media outreach.
• Creativity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic communication plans to promote Equimundo's mission.
• Oversee content creation for press releases, newsletters, social media, and the website.
• Manage media relations and coordinate public events.
• Lead email marketing campaigns and manage Equimundo’s Substack account.
• Oversee website management with internal staff and external vendors.
• Supervise the Senior Communications Associate and Multimedia Communications Associate.
• Manage vendors and consultants in PR and graphic design.
