Job summary

Gorbel is seeking a Senior Commodity Specialist to lead strategic and tactical procurement of assigned commodities, aligning with quality, delivery, cost and innovation goals. You will develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, negotiate MSAs, apply Lean tools, mentor team members and drive cost improvements across manufacturing operations in Alabama.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and a track record of delivering savings and supplier quality

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain/Operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• APICS CSCP, APICS CPIM and ISM CPSM certifications.
• Proficient with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Strong leadership and Lean tools application.

Responsibilities

Job description

• The Senior Commodity Specialist provides strategic/tactical leadership of given commodity(ies) and develops/implements commodity strategies aligned with the company's quality, delivery, cost and innovation goals.
• Develop and execute the procurement strategies for given commodity(ies)
• Develop, integrate and manage preferred suppliers to meet company requirements
• Negotiate and implement Master Service Agreements (MSA’s)
• Develop and implement best-in-class processes and procedures
• Lead workshops, kaizens, and train associates on sourcing tools and processes
• Provide coaching, mentoring and support to commodity team members
• Champion commodity team initiatives throughout Gorbel
• Achieve excellent results in annual cost improvement, supplier quality/delivery
• Drive improvements utilizing Lean tools and principles
• Conduct root cause investigation in response to supplier material quality issues and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain/Operations experience in a manufacturing environment
• High degree of business ethics and accountability
• Leadership and application of lean tools and principles to drive improvements
• Strong business and financial acumen
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
• Proficient with ERP systems
• Effective in both written and verbal communications
• Able to travel up to 20% of the time
• APICS certification for CSCP
• APICS certification for CPIM
• ISM certification for CPSM
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
