Job summary

ST Engineering Marine Ltd is seeking a seasoned Commissioning Engineer to lead the QA commissioning team for shipboard electrical and automation systems. You will direct engineers, plan and monitor commissioning activities, and collaborate with vendors to ensure on-schedule project completion.

The role requires 5–7 years in marine engineering, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with shipboard systems and class standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Marine, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in marine industry.
  • Experience managing a team of engineers/workers.
  • Knowledge of Class requirements and Quality Standards.
  • Onboard knowledge of shipboard machinery and automation systems.
  • Experience in commissioning and services support for marine systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review internal test records and platform acceptance protocols.
  • Update FAT, HAT & PAT status reports in progress meetings.
  • Lead commissioning of shipboard machinery and electrical/automation systems.
  • Establish and monitor commissioning/HAT plans against master schedule.
  • Manage resource planning, safety, risks, and productivity of the commissioning team.
  • Coordinate with other departments and OEMs to resolve interfaces.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and vendor coordination to resolve issues.
  • Set productivity targets and identify training needs.
  • Plan manpower and manage shortfalls or surpluses.

Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
  • Review of Internal Test records
  • Review of Platform Acceptance Test protocols
  • Update the status report on FAT, HAT & PAT in the progress meeting
Commissioning of Shipboard Machinery System/Electrical & Automation System and Equipment
  • Leads, directs and supervise a team of engineers in preparation of commissioning of shipboard equipment's ensuring the entire responsibility for the completion on schedule in accordance to the protocols.
  • Establish and continuous monitoring of Commissioning/ HAT Plan, based on master project schedule.
  • Manage resource planning and technical advice for the QA commissioning Team.
  • Manage work safety, assigned jobs, risk assessment and productivity of the Commission Team and manage the commissioning job scope with supplier/ OEM within budgeted Man Hours
  • Prepares manpower organization to fulfill the commissioning schedule. At times to coordinate with other departments to resolve interface problems
  • Deploy and assign jobs and expectation to his engineers and supervisors
  • Holds regular meetings with the team and other departments in the commissioning progress/issues affecting the test as well as meetings with the vendors to resolve any equipment related problems.
  • Set productivity targets for his team, assess, identify and manage training needs for his team
  • Plan department man power projections, and manage shortfall or excess resources.
  • Manage departmental improvement and processes to improve quality of work.
  • Manage E-Ops Team for Sea Trial
  • Perform safety audits on departmental safety practices and employees.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Marine, Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years relevant experience in marine related industry
  • Track record of managing a team of engineers and workers
  • Knowledge of Class requirements and Quality Standards
  • Good knowledge and onboard exposure for ship and machinery system/electrical & automation system operation and upkeep
  • Experience in managing marine system/electrical & automation system engineering commissioning and services support department
  • Possess Shipboard & Sea Going/Sea Trial Experience will be an added advantage

  • Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
  • 5 days work week
  • Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm
