Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer to lead PV and BESS commissioning from pre-energization through turnover, ensuring projects energize safely and on schedule.

This role requires deep SCADA/controls expertise, remote and field support, and collaboration across teams to meet milestones and performance targets. Hybrid option from Boston or Chicago, with nationwide remote possibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education/certification.
• 7+ years designing and commissioning electrical power systems.
• 4+ years in renewables (Solar, Wind, Storage).
• Experience in controls engineering for utility-scale renewables (PV/BESS).
• Knowledge of inverter parameter setting procedures.
• Knowledge of Modbus/TCP, DNP3.0 and related protocols.
• Hands-on with relays, meters, SCADA Gateways, Data Concentrators; RTAC programming.
• Expertise in commissioning and resolving site technical issues; strong troubleshooting of SCADA issues.
• Effective communication and mentorship capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of PV and BESS from pre-energization to turnover.
• Troubleshoot electrical, protection, and SCADA issues; support field teams.
• Manage commissioning schedules with Deployment, SCADA, Eng. and contractors.
• Provide remote and field support for DAS, inverter, BESS, SCADA commissioning.
• Review live site performance and conduct performance testing.
• Lead DAS/SCADA system design for PV, BESS, PV+BESS projects.
• Assist in development of SCADA engineering standards.
• Mentor junior commissioning team members; share best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and documentation.
