Job summary

BGIS is seeking a Commissioning Agent to oversee startup and commissioning of critical electrical and mechanical systems for client facilities. The position requires hands-on evaluation of power distribution, UPS, BAS/BMS, HVAC, and related equipment, with extensive field testing and documentation.

The role involves design reviews, policy development, QA/QC, and coordination with vendors, contractors, and client teams. Travel up to 75% is expected, with remote work possible when not on site.

Qualifications

• 7 years of industry experience in electrical power distribution or mechanical systems.
• AA degree, military training or equivalent work experience.
• Experience diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to travel up to 75%.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Must be able to obtain a passport.
• Five years of experience in the commissioning field including performance contracting requirements.
• Proficiency in ASHRAE, BCA and/or PECI commissioning procedures.
• Hospital, biotech, data center, and energy analysis experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform design reviews of systems.
• Develop startup and commissioning policies and procedures.
• QA/QC of equipment installation.
• Perform construction observations and develop functional test plans.
• Execute tests for electrical and mechanical systems per standards and procedures.
• Assist in training of plant operations and maintenance personnel.
• Act as liaison with vendors and subcontractors regarding problem resolution and testing.
• Review and analyze data and prepare technical reports.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and project team members.
• Work with others to manage small to mid-size projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.
