Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a Wholesale/E&S Commercial Lines Underwriter in Hartford. You will evaluate risk with Retail Agents to determine underwriting acceptability and pricing, manage portfolio profitability, and provide new and renewal products based on client needs.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in Commercial Line Underwriting, possess industry designations, and hold a valid Producer's License in their home state. Travelers offers strong benefits and incentive programs.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Insurance, Underwriting, MGA or program business experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Commercial Lines insurance coverage forms and their application.
• Working knowledge of applicable Insurance Department regulations and policies.
• Must have a valid Producer's License in home state.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal submissions from Retail Agents to determine underwriting and pricing attributes.
• Prepare premium quotations for new and renewal business risk submissions.
• Engage with agents to close transactions.
• Apply terms and conditions and document underwriting and pricing decision rationale.
• Coach and guide others as needed.
• Develop understanding of state-by-state underwriting strategies and regulatory requirements.
• Assess completeness and request additional documentation as needed.
