Orion180 Insurance Co. is seeking an experienced commercial underwriter to lead referrals, influence product design, and shape underwriting guidelines.

You will partner with senior leadership to ensure profitable, well-rated portfolios across all lines of business. The role requires strong judgment on complex accounts, collaboration with actuarial, IT, and legal teams, and the ability to translate desk experience into practical forms and rating rules.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on commercial property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial forms — CGL, BOP, Commercial Property.
• Demonstrated underwriting judgment on complex or non-standard accounts.
• Strong portfolio mindset — think beyond the individual account to a book.
• Comfort with ambiguity and build environments; help shape decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the referral underwriter for complex submissions and large accounts across all lines of business.
• Bring underwriting discipline to product design — guidelines and appetite.
• Document referral patterns and refine underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
• Define product appetite and underwriting guidelines with leadership.
• Contribute to forms strategy and design proprietary endorsements.
• Collaborate with Actuarial on translating underwriting judgment into rating variables/rules.
• Partner with IT on PAS and rating engine configuration for day-to-day workflows.
• Work with Legal and Compliance on form filings and admitted vs. non-admitted structure.
