Job summary

Columbia Bank is seeking a Senior Underwriter to evaluate and structure Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lease and loan transactions. In this role you will balance sound credit decisions with growth, partnering with Relationship Managers and Client Solutions teams to deliver tailored financing solutions for middle-market clients.

You will analyze financial data, spread statements, and apply risk rating models to ensure accurate, compliant underwriting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 7–10 years of commercial credit underwriting experience in lease/loan environments.
• CLFP certification preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices and documentation.
• Experience spreading financial statements, cash flow analysis and credit quality assessment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business, industry, and financial data to assess credit requests.
• Identify key risks affecting repayment prospects.
• Prepare concise credit recommendations with proper risk rating and exceptions.
• Spread financial statements and ensure covenant calculations meet guidelines.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers and other teams to deliver financing solutions.
• Monitor borrower performance in line with loan documents.
• Coach or train others and share knowledge with the team.
