Job summary

IMT Insurance is seeking a Sr Commercial Lines Underwriter in the Madison, Wisconsin area. The role evaluates complex risks, sets pricing and coverage terms, and drives profitable growth within an agency portfolio.

You will partner with Territory Managers, manage agency relationships, and act as a technical resource for underwriters. Responsibilities include portfolio management, risk analysis, pricing, and collaboration with agents to obtain complete risk information.

Qualifications

• College education or 7-8 years equivalent experience with 5+ years direct commercial lines experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lines products, forms, policy interpretation, and regulations.
• Ability to analyze complex risks and exercise sound underwriting judgment.
• Ability to write risks and retain business with underwriting knowledge.
• Ability to manage a complex workload and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication, relationship building, and collaboration with agents.
• Proficient in underwriting systems and business applications.
• Detail oriented with high integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned agency portfolio aligned to agency needs and growth.
• Analyze commercial lines accounts to guide risk decisions.
• Price business per underwriting and pricing guidelines.
• Develop strong relationships with independent agents and brokers.
• Communicate underwriting decisions to agencies and stakeholders.
• Travel to agency locations, meetings, and industry events.
