Job summary

Sentry is seeking an Underwriting Manager - Commercial Lines to oversee and guide the implementation of our business strategy, leading a team of underwriters in Madison. The role emphasizes process improvement, performance, and strong partner relationships with agencies and insureds.

You will mentor underwriters, interpret guidelines for complex files, and drive cross-functional collaboration to pursue new business while maintaining profitability and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience, with middle market underwriting preferred.
• Completion of insurance courses such as IIA and CPCU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day underwriting operations and provide technical guidance to a team of underwriters.
• Interpret underwriting guidelines for larger or more complex files and handle difficult inquiries.
• Coordinate and participate in underwriting training programs and cross-functional meetings.
