Job summary

Ashton North LLC seeks an experienced Commercial Underwriting Manager to lead a national team of title underwriters in a hybrid Tampa/Orlando setting. You will oversee underwriting standards, risk management, and complex CRE transactions.

The ideal candidate has JD or a strong law/degree background, 5–7+ years in title insurance underwriting, and 3–5+ years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to mentor top talent and deliver client-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; JD strongly preferred.
• 5-7+ years of commercial title insurance and underwriting experience.
• 3-5+ years of supervisory, management, or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial title insurance commitments, policies, endorsements, and underwriting practices.
• Experience underwriting complex commercial real estate transactions, including multi-property and multi-state transactions.
• Demonstrated success leading teams, managing projects, and driving operational improvements.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of a team of Commercial Underwriters and related title professionals.
• Provide underwriting support, guidance, and expertise to personnel, agents, customers, and transaction teams.
• Evaluate and underwrite commercial title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements within delegated authority.
• Ensure consistent application of underwriting standards, risk management practices, and company guidelines.
• Provide guidance related to commercial real estate settlement services and transaction execution.
• Manage department priorities, workflows, resources, and performance objectives.
• Support complex commercial real estate transactions by identifying risk factors and developing underwriting solutions.
• Participate in project reviews, planning, and departmental strategy initiatives.
• Review and approve underwriting decisions, policy structures, and transaction-related recommendations.
• Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retention of underwriting talent.
• Partner with executive leadership on operational planning, staffing decisions, and organizational initiatives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
