Job summary

Tom Trese Networking LLC is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Manager to lead a hybrid team of underwriting professionals in Tampa/Orlando. The role combines hands-on underwriting with people leadership across multi-property, multi-state transactions.

You will ensure consistent underwriting standards, manage risk, and guide settlement services while developing top-performing talent. JD/Possible bar admission, 5–7+ years in title insurance, and strong leadership are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred.
• 5–7+ years of commercial title insurance and underwriting experience.
• 3–5+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial title insurance commitments, policies, endorsements, and underwriting practices.
• Experience underwriting complex commercial real estate transactions.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across departments.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Experience mentoring and retaining underwriting talent.
• Strong customer-service orientation with the ability to manage client expectations and deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of a team of Commercial Underwriters and related title professionals.
• Provide underwriting support, guidance, and expertise to personnel, agents, customers, and transaction teams.
• Evaluate and underwrite commercial title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements within delegated authority.
• Ensure consistent underwriting standards and risk management.
• Provide guidance on commercial real estate settlement services and transaction execution.
• Manage departmental priorities, workflows, resources, and performance objectives.
• Support complex commercial real estate transactions by identifying risk factors and developing solutions.
• Participate in project reviews, planning, and strategy initiatives.
• Review and approve underwriting decisions and related recommendations.
• Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retention of underwriting talent.
• Partner with executive leadership on planning and staffing.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement.
