Job summary

FNF is seeking a Commercial Underwriter in Washington, DC to manage title underwriting and escrow for a broad range of commercial real estate transactions in the National Commercial Services team.

Transactions range from under $1 million to over $1 billion and involve nationwide sites. You will guide clients, resolve title issues, and ensure timely closings with strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Commercial title insurance and underwriting principles.
• Ability to explain complex real estate issues clearly.
• Strong judgment in risk evaluation and underwriting decisions.
• Review title commitments, surveys, and closing documents.
• Familiarity with transfer and recordation tax rules in DC/MD/VA.
• Excellent client service, communication and relationship skills.
• Organizational skills with multiple deadlines.
• Proficiency in Excel for settlement statements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for clients in commercial transactions.
• Evaluate insurability, identify risks, and propose solutions.
• Review title objections and clearance requirements.
• Draft policy exceptions, endorsements, affidavits, and escrow docs.
• Approve coverage within delegated authority and regulations.
• Prepare and review settlement statements and disbursements.
• Coordinate closing packages and in-person closings as needed.
• Support post-closing escrow activities and issues.
• Apply tax knowledge for DC/MD/VA transfers.
