Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Sr. Claims Specialist to join the North America First Party Property Claims team.

The successful candidate will adjust complex commercial property exposures and provide insight and analysis on first-party property claims across Middle Market, Shared & Layered, and Excess & Surplus lines. Location options include Boston, MA; Alpharetta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Purchase, NY; NYC, NY; Morristown, NJ, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of relevant claims experience with increasing responsibility.
Direct experience handling Commercial Property and E&S Property claims, including quota-share, shared/layered, and excess claims.
Preference for CPCU or insurance designation supported by formal education and professional development.

Responsibilities

Handle Commercial Property claim exposures for North American Property business units and related systems.
Evaluate exposures and decide on first-party property claims, guiding coverage, liability, and damages issues.
Manage loss adjustment expenses and ensure timely, accurate claim reporting with narratives and financial calculations.
Report exposures, reserves, trends, and metrics to Underwriting, Senior Management, Reinsurers, and internal stakeholders.
Partner with Actuary, Re, Underwriting, Operations, Finance to support reporting and business needs.
Maintain compliance with best practices and build relationships with brokers and agents; travel as needed.
