MRINetwork in Kansas is seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter (P&C) to maintain and grow a profitable book. You will underwrite commercial property, casualty and specialty lines, making sound risk decisions in collaboration with actuarial, reinsurance and technology teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial P&C experience.
• Strong underwriting experience in commercial property, casualty and/or specialty.
• Proven ability to manage or grow a profitable book of business.
• Sound pricing, risk selection and capacity judgment.
• Understanding of carrier capital, surplus and reinsurance considerations.
• Experience with multiple underwriting appetites, products or territories.
• Ability to mentor and develop less-experienced underwriters.
• Strong underwriting documentation and file discipline.
• Ability to collaborate across underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance and technology.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite commercial property, casualty and specialty business.
• Price and underwrite new and renewal commercial P&C business.
• Make disciplined risk decisions within appetite and authority.
• Build and maintain a profitable commercial book with premium growth.
• Identify opportunities for new products, classes and geographic expansion.
• Work with reinsurance partners on larger or more complex risks.
• Apply capital, surplus and retention considerations in underwriting.
• Partner with actuarial and other stakeholders on pricing and portfolio performance.
• Coach and mentor less-experienced underwriters.
• Maintain strong underwriting documentation and adhere to guidelines.
• Help improve underwriting processes and shape underwriting philosophy.
