Varney Agency is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Account Executive to serve as the senior technical and strategic lead for a complex book of business in a full-time, in-office role in Bangor, ME. Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in commercial insurance and risk management.
• Active Property & Casualty insurance license required.
• CPCU, ARM, or other advanced insurance or risk management designations strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and risk management principles.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting practices and carrier markets.
• Exceptional client relationship management and advisory skills.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities.
• High proficiency with agency management systems; Applied EPIC preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior client relationship manager for assigned accounts and maintain executive-level relationships.
• Act as primary client advisor when Producers are unavailable or focused on new business development.
• Participate in client meetings, stewardship reviews, and strategic planning discussions.
• Provide consultative guidance on insurance program design and risk management strategies.
• Evaluate client operations, exposures, and loss trends to identify opportunities for risk mitigation.
• Analyze loss runs and claims data to develop strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity.
• Lead strategic marketing and placement of complex new and renewal business.
• Engage directly with carrier underwriters to negotiate coverage structure, pricing, and terms.
• Serve as senior technical resource and mentor to Account Managers and Assistants.
• Review complex submissions, proposals, and insurance program structures.
• Identify opportunities to improve client risk profile and insurance program effectiveness.
• Support agency retention, growth, and profitability objectives.
