Role Description

The Senior Commercial Kitchen Service Technician is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing commercial kitchen, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and installing new equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards. The technician will complete field service visits, document work performed, and ensure equipment is restored to optimal operation as quickly and safely as possible. Daily activities include troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues, consulting with customers on equipment condition, and providing clear, professional communication about service options and timelines. The technician will collaborate with dispatch and parts teams, follow company procedures, and contribute to maintaining Vanco’s reputation for reliable, high‑quality service.

Qualifications

• Strong maintenance & repair skills, including hands‑on experience with commercial kitchen, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment.
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities for mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems, with a methodical approach to diagnostics.
• Field Service experience, including working independently at customer sites and managing time and service documentation effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating clear communication, professionalism, and a focus on building long‑term customer relationships.
• General maintenance skills, including preventive maintenance planning and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
• Relevant technical certifications or training in HVAC, refrigeration, or commercial kitchen equipment are highly beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for travel to customer locations in the service area.
• Prior experience in commercial food service equipment service or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, work in hot or cold environments, and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
