Job summary

HTS Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced service technician to perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems across multiple locations in North America.

You will work on RTUs, chillers, boilers, VAVs, air handlers, pumps, and related equipment, coordinating with junior technicians and subcontractors as needed. The role requires a strong service background, EPA Universal Certification, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of commercial HVAC experience preferred with a strong service background.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience with commercial HVAC systems.
• Strong knowledge of chillers, boilers, RTUs, air handlers, pumps, cooling towers, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, service, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems.
• Lead technician on projects and coordinate with junior technicians and subcontractors.
• Interface with building engineers, facility managers, property owners, and customers.
• Explain service findings, recommendations, and system conditions clearly.
• Maintain accurate service documentation and use BuildOps for job documentation.
• Mentor and train junior technicians; ensure safe and high-standard work; first-time fixability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, service, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems
• Work with RTUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, VFDs, boilers, VAVs, fan-powered boxes, air handlers, and related equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance and detailed system inspections
• Serve as a lead technician on projects and coordinate with junior technicians and subcontractors as needed
• Interface professionally with building engineers, facility managers, property owners, and customers
• Explain service findings, recommendations, and system conditions clearly
• Maintain accurate and timely service documentation
• Use BuildOps service software to support service and job documentation
• Mentor and train junior technicians
• Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard
• Take ownership of service issues and ensure repairs are completed the first time correctly

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of commercial HVAC experience preferred, with a strong service background
• Minimum 6 years of HVAC/R and relevant stable work history required
• Advanced troubleshooting experience with commercial HVAC systems
• Strong knowledge of chillers, boilers, RTUs, air handlers, pumps, cooling towers, and controls
• EPA Universal Certification required
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring schematics, and technical manuals
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• BAS/BMS experience is a plus
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to provide two professional/business references
