Job summary

Jobot in Indianapolis is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual stages through design development. You will analyze plans, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare comprehensive estimates and drive accurate bidding processes.

Collaborate with preconstruction, PM, and BD teams to identify value engineering opportunities, negotiate subcontractor bids, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Sage, or similar).
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and cost drivers.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of accurate, detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual through final design.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to develop comprehensive estimates.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor bids.
• Collaborate closely with preconstruction, project management, and business development teams.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies.
• Mentor and support junior estimating staff.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Participate in project handoff meetings and support the transition from preconstruction to construction.
