Job summary

Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust is seeking a Senior Credit Officer to provide independent credit judgment for complex commercial loans. The role emphasizes prudent loan authority and adherence to policy and regulations, supporting strong credit culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in commercial banking credit underwriting.
• Demonstrated credit risk management and policy interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve credit requests for commercial loans per policy.
• Review loan structures and recommend covenants and modifications.
• Exercise independent authority to approve loans outside policy when warranted.
• Lead credit risk management activities including stress testing and analysis.
• Provide policy interpretation and guidance to lending partners.
