Qualifications

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with expertise in financial statement analysis and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in financial analysis software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
• Meticulous attention to detail and elevated level of accuracy in analyzing financial data.
• Knowledge of credit industry regulations and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Determines whether information submitted for underwriting meets bank policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements for commercial credit applications.
• Research and interpret commercial loan documentation, agreements, leases, and other legal documents to complete loan files.
• Reviews loan terms and conditions to determine appropriateness of structure and purpose; suggests improvements to loan structure.
• Conducts background checks and credit bureau inquiries to prevent fraud and assess borrower character.
• Expert in higher-risk and specialized industries in commercial lending transactions.
• Uses advanced financial analyses to evaluate borrower repayment ability and performance versus peers/benchmarks.
• Designs covenant structures to include in loan agreements and documents assumptions clearly.
• Prepares underwriting documents for executive approval, defending exceptions to policies.
• Assigns risk ratings to proposed loans and defends ratings.
• Supports relationship managers and participates in customer calls to gather required information.
• Ensures compliance with Commercial Credit Policy and documents any exceptions.
• Provides guidance to other Analysts and may train staff; helps develop Credit Department procedures.
