Job summary

Cardinal Health seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to serve as the primary legal partner to leaders within a division of a business unit. You will provide counsel on legal issues, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, and protect the company’s interests while ensuring contract compliance.

You will liaise with various Legal and internal teams to resolve issues, contribute to business strategy, and act as a day-to-day contact for business clients across domestic and international operations.

Qualifications

• Law degree with a record of high academic achievement in law school.
• License to practice law is required.
• 5+ years of experience in a large complex organization or nationally recognized law firm preferred.
• Commercial/transactional experience; healthcare law knowledge preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication with acute attention to detail.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interface with personnel at many levels.
• Business acumen and ability to diagnose corporate legal problems and present solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive and pragmatic legal advice across enterprise based on knowledge of commercial transactions and applicable laws.
• Draft and negotiate contracts to protect the business interests and ensure compliance.
• Handle fast paced, high-volume workload.
• Identify legal and compliance risks and elevate appropriately.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Collaborate with Litigation, Privacy, Regulatory Counsel, and Compliance teams.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and updates to contract templates based on regulatory changes or business strategy.
• Support Litigation as a liaison and expert for the business in legal matters.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations, cases, and best practices.
