Job summary

eBay is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join our global Technology, Marketing, and Commercial Contracts Legal team in Austin, TX or Salt Lake City, UT. This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least three days a week and involves leading negotiations of complex commercial agreements, data privacy reviews, and collaboration with senior leadership to align legal strategy with business goals.

The ideal candidate will have a J.D.

Qualifications

J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and in good standing with a US state bar.
6+ years of negotiating and drafting expertise in sophisticated commercial transactions including software licenses/SaaS, main service agreements, Statements of Work, professional services, and data privacy agreements.
Some travel required.

Responsibilities

Review, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements (software licenses/SaaS, marketing, MSAs, SOWs, professional services, data privacy).
Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, including data privacy, security, and AI.
Advise on risk management, policy compliance, and contractual obligations.
Collaborate with strategic business partners to align legal strategies with business goals.
Undertake special projects and support new business initiatives.
Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency while validating AI-generated work.
