Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP is seeking a Counsel, Commercial Contracts to provide strategic legal counsel across the procurement contracting pipeline. You will review and negotiate a high volume of diverse agreements—services, confidential, SaaS, licenses, events, HR/benefits, technical, and AI-related contracts.

The role is hybrid and requires a Juris Doctor with active license and 5–7 years of contract counseling experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor with active license in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience providing contract counseling including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Experience drafting and negotiating supplier and technology contracts for global organizations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of commercial and technical contracts, maintaining a risk-based approach.
• Partner across the firm to streamline procurement and contracting processes and build stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure contract intake is complete, accurate, and business-ready for legal review.
• Support Procurement with SLAs, training, playbooks, and practical legal guidance.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on supplier contracts, risk management, terms, and disputes.
• Escalate complex legal and risk matters to appropriate firm counsel.
• Develop and maintain supplier contracting policies, standards, and compliance practices.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and propose updates.
• Help develop and maintain firm-wide supplier contract templates.
• Support contracting training and knowledge sharing across the firm.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
