Job summary

SUNY Erie Community College is seeking an experienced Comptroller to oversee the College's fiscal operations and lead the accounting function. You will manage the general ledger, budgeting, grants, and fixed assets while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role requires strong supervisory skills and collaboration with campus leadership, auditors, and external agencies to support transparent financial reporting and strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with finance emphasis and six years of responsible experience in accounting or finance.
• Master's degree strongly preferred; if only bachelor's, master's expected within initial five years of employment.
• Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fiscal operations and supervision of personnel in the financial departments (Accounting, Budget, Contracts, Grants, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable).
• Develop and maintain institutional accounting systems and general ledger, financial reporting, and grant management.
• Ensure compliance with GASB, FASB, SUNY rules, state and federal regulations; coordinate audits with external auditors.
