Job summary

AMS Staffing, Inc. is seeking a Collections Paralegal in Tysons Corner, VA with 7+ years in litigation and debt recovery. The role supports the legal team through pre-litigation to post-judgment work, ensuring compliance with federal and state rules.

The position is full-time and hybrid after a 90-day training period. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of VA and DC court systems, familiarity with bankruptcy processes, and proficiency in MS Office, LexisNexis, Accurint, and PACER.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FDCPA and state debt collection laws (VA, DC) and U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
• Ability to ensure collection activities comply with FDCPA, TCPA, and state laws.
• Experience with LexisNexis, Accurint, and PACER; familiarity with e-filing in VA/DC.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a high-volume collection matters portfolio (approx. 100 matters per month).
• Draft demand letters, summons, complaints, affidavits of debt, discovery, motions, and post-judgment remedies.
• Monitor dockets and deadlines across VA state courts, D.C. courts, and bankruptcy courts.
• Communicate effectively with debtors, clients, opposing counsel, and the court in writing and orally.
• Maintain up-to-date client status reports and provide timely updates to HOA/CA clients.
• Lead clerical and paralegal tasks within the collections group; provide overflow support as needed.
