Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Coding Auditor to perform inpatient and outpatient coding audits across specialties and to present audit results. You will ensure accurate documentation, educate physicians when needed, and collaborate with offsite auditors and copartners on coding quality.

The role requires a CPC or CCS certification, a minimum of 5 years coding experience and at least 2 years auditing in a multi-specialty setting, along with strong communication and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• CPC or CCS coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
• Minimum 5 years coding experience and 2 years auditing in a multi-specialty setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use job-related software.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Perform coding audits and compliance audits for providers and present audits to internal and external parties.
• Apply E&M, CPT/HCPCS, CCI guidelines and specialty guidance in audits.
• Educate physicians on audit findings or denial trends as needed.
• Complete coding audits for copartners’ coding workflows.
• Collaborate with offsite auditors as required.
• Evaluate documentation quality that supports selected codes and report findings.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, and payer-specific editing rules.
• Maintain PHI protection and professional conduct; support quality assessment programs.
