Job summary

St Mary Medical Center is seeking a credentialed coder/abstractor to assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT codes across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role covers inpatient, ER, same-day surgery, and observation cases, following AHA/UHDDS guidelines.

Qualifications

• Credentialing through AAPC/AHIMA preferred.
• Experience assigning DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT codes per guidelines.

• Assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to various patient account types according to AHA/UHDDS guidelines.
• Code inpatient, outpatient clinical, ER, same-day surgery and observation cases.
• Work under general supervision in a credentialed coder/abstractor role.

Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including Inpatient – All types of cases, Outpatient Clinical, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Observation. Required Qualifications

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders.
• National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association
• National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association
• National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association
• National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
• 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree: Medical Record Technology.
• Coursework/Training: Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology.
• 3 years of Inpatient coding in an acute care setting.
• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
