Job summary

Providence Health & Services is seeking a credentialed coder/abstractor to assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT codes across inpatient and outpatient settings, including ER, same day surgery and observation. Under general supervision, you will ensure coding accuracy per AHA and UHDDS guidelines, contributing to high-quality patient care and accurate reimbursements.

The role requires at least 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience and an eligible certification.

Responsibilities

• Assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types per AHA/UHDDS guidelines.
• Code inpatient, outpatient clinical, ER, same day surgery and observation cases.
• Maintain coding accuracy and compliance with applicable coding guidelines.

Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including Inpatient - All types of cases, Outpatient Clinical, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Observation.

Required Qualifications:

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders. Or


• National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association or National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association


• 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree: Medical Record Technology.


• Coursework/Training: Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology.


• 3 years of Inpatient coding in an acute care setting.


• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
