Job summary

RELI Group in Windsor Mill, MD is seeking a RADV medical coder to perform intake and coding validation of medical records and enter data into CMS tools, in accordance with contract and organizational guidelines.

The role supports the Project Director, responds to coder questions, and ensures 95% minimum IRR, while safeguarding PHI and complying with security standards. Five+ years of hospital/integrated coding experience and active coder credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience coding general acute hospital (inpatient/outpatient) and/or multi-specialty physician office medical records.
• Must be a certified coder credentialed by a recognized credentialing institution.
• Five+ years of experience in coding and related RADV audits preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform RADV-compliant diagnosis coding for inpatient, outpatient, and physician office records.
• Evaluate intake validity, attestations, non-compliance issues, and other validations per RADV guidelines.
• Conduct Medical Record Disputes and Appeals reviews with technical writing per RADV guidelines.
• Provide Appeals support as RADV Subject Matter Expert at CMS requests.
• Participate in QA Panel discussions for medical record review intake/coding and appeals.
• Interact with physician reviewers as required.
• Enter data into encoder, CDAT-M, and other required software using a computer.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of PHI.
• Meet productivity and accuracy standards (IRR) of 95% minimum.

Summary/Objective

Perform intake and coding validation on medical records and enter the corresponding data into CMS tool in accordance with contractual and organizational guidelines. Assist Project Director with any additional responsibilities requested.

Essential Functions

• Perform diagnosis coding of inpatient, outpatient, and physician office medical records per Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) guidelines.
• Perform intake evaluation include validity status of medical records and attestations, non-compliance issues, and other validations checks as required per RADV guidelines.
• Perform Medical Record Dispute and Appeal reviews including technical writing per RADV guidelines.
• Provide Appeals support as RADV Subject Matter Expert at CMS request
• Participate and contribute to QA Panel discussions for medical record review intake/coding and appeals, as needed.
• Interact with the physician reviewer(s) as required.
• Answer questions from coders through the escalation process.
• Accurately enter data into encoder, CDAT-M, and other as required software using a personal computer, keyboard and/or mouse.
• Follow all established processes and procedures.
• Report problems to Project Director with regard to unique record or process issues.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI)
• Consistently meet or exceed productivity and accuracy standards of 95% minimum IRR established by the customer and/or the company.
• Consistently meet attendance standards established by the Company.
• Interact appropriately with peers, co-workers, other Contractors, and the customer, when necessary. Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
• Assist Project Director with development of training materials.
• Assist with training and feedback of coders.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Experience in coding general acute hospital (inpatient and outpatient) and/or multi-specialty physician office medical records by applying ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM coding guidelines. Experience in performing medical record coding audits including complex medical record abstraction. Must be a certified coder who is credentialed by a recognized credentialing institution.

Preferred Education and Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in coding general acute hospital (inpatient and outpatient ) and/or multi-specialty physician office medical records by applying ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM coding guidelines. Experience in leading and/or supervising personnel in abstracting and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding preferred. Experience in Risk Adjustment Data Validation or CMS-HCC audits preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000.
