Job summary

The City of Dallas seeks a Senior Code Enforcement Officer to lead complex investigations and enforcement actions across property types. You will work with Police, Fire, and City Attorneys, preparing court testimony and guiding junior staff in a fast-paced environment.

Required are 5 years of experience with 3 in enforcement, a current Texas Code Compliance Officer license, and a valid Driver’s License. ICC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of experience, with three years in code enforcement or related duties.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
• Must be a Registered Code Compliance Officer with a current license (TDLR).
• ICC certification preferred for building/residential/property maintenance codes.
• Strong ability to lead investigations, issue citations, and testify in court.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations and respond to significant code compliance challenges.
• Manage a caseload of complex code, crime, and safety concerns.
• Collaborate with Police, Fire, City Attorneys, and external agencies.
• Prepare testimony for municipal and district courts as an expert witness.
• Assess properties for Habitual Nuisance Properties designation and coordinate repairs.
• Conduct graded inspections and ensure compliance with multi-tenant rules.
