Job summary

Tech Army, LLC seeks an experienced Senior Programmer / Team Lead in Columbia, SC to own and advance the Phoenix COBOL-based core system. This is a hands-on leadership role guiding a development team and working closely with business units to align requirements with technical solutions.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in COBOL, Oracle SQL, and team leadership, with strong communication and independent work abilities. This is a fully onsite 12-month engagement with potential extension.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Visual COBOL v9 or higher, including architecture and programming.
• 10+ years of systems analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation experience.
• 10+ years leading technical software development teams in software planning and deployment.
• 10+ years coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems using Oracle SQL.
• 10+ years providing Level 3 (L3) production support.
• 10+ years working directly with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications.
• Strong ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Overview:

What You’ll Do

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle 19+ SQL

• Strong experience planning, leading, directing, reviewing, and coordinating technical project work

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is preferred, along with 10+ years of relevant experience.
